The “Changemakers for the Planet” program is looking for young changemakers who tackle climate change, biodiversity loss, and air, sea, and land pollution. Changemakers for the Planet is open to accepting applications from individuals of diverse backgrounds who are working towards solving the planetary crisis. This includes social entrepreneurs, innovators, social change agents, activists, and civil society leaders. The program recruits a wide variety of change-makers on purpose, as the climate crisis necessitates an intersectional and coordinated approach between numerous stakeholders who are addressing the root causes and those who are adapting to the societal changes that will have diverse effects.
- This program is intended for individuals aged 18-35, known as Changemakers, from Sub-Saharan Africa who have solutions to address the planetary crisis.
- The event will start with a summit on September 18-22, 2023, and will be followed by funding opportunities for participants to collaborate.
- The summit will be conducted in English but French translation will be made available upon request. You have the option to apply for the summit in either English or French.
- Joining the Changemaker Xchange summit is the initial step towards becoming part of our global community of 1000 changemakers worldwide.
Age: You must be 18–35 years old to join this class. Because of permissions, we focus on people over 18 years old. (Please note that changemakers of any age can join most of our other activities, such as the Train the Trainer workshop, capacity building programs, and The Possibilists’ events.)
Role: You are the founder, co-founder, leader, manager, or co-manager (or hold an influential position with decision-making power, such as an intrapreneur) of a social or environmental company or organization that is up and running and addresses the issue facing the planet.
Language: The summit for Latin America will be conducted primarily in Spanish. However, the onsite team will also be proficient in English and Portuguese to assist those who are not native speakers. Nonetheless, it is highly recommended that attendees have a strong grasp of the Spanish language to fully participate. On the other hand, the summit for Sub-Saharan Africa will be conducted in English, but French translation services will be available for those who need it.
Complete application: Please ensure that the application form is completed in its entirety with no unanswered questions or insufficient responses.
For the Sub-Saharan Africa summit, participants are responsible for covering their own transportation costs to Rwanda. However, ChangemakerXchange will cover all other expenses associated with the summit and program, including accommodation, catering, local transportation, room hire, equipment and materials, COVID-19 rapid tests, FFP2 masks, facilitation and hosting compensation, program manager compensation, carbon emissions offsetting from the local hosting, post-summit capacity-building program, and post-summit community engagement activities.
