The Schwarzman Scholars program centres on an intensive and immersive Master of Global Affairs curriculum at Tsinghua University in Beijing.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree: Prospective candidates currently pursuing undergraduate studies must be on course to fulfil all degree requirements by August 1 of their Schwarzman Scholars intake year. There are no stipulations regarding a specific undergraduate field of study; applicants from all disciplines are encouraged to apply. However, candidates, irrespective of their undergraduate majors, should articulate how participation in Schwarzman Scholars will contribute to the development of their leadership potential within their chosen field.
  • Age requirement: Applicants must be at least 18 years old but not yet 29 years old as of August 1 of their Schwarzman Scholars intake year (for the Class of 2025-2026, as of August 1, 2025).
  • Demonstrate proficiency in English: As all instruction will be conducted in English, applicants must exhibit strong English language skills. If English is not the applicant’s native language, official English proficiency test scores must accompany the application. This requirement is waived for applicants who pursued undergraduate studies in an institution where English was the primary language of instruction for at least two years of their academic program. Additionally, the requirement is waived for applicants who have completed two or more years of study in English at the master’s degree level or higher. Acceptable English proficiency tests include Internet-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL iBT) with a minimum score of 100, International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a minimum score of 7, Cambridge English: Advanced (C1) or Cambridge English: Proficiency (C2) with a minimum score of 185.
