Youth Voices United: IOM’s Ambassador Initiative for Change-makers

Written by admin

The IOM Youth Ambassador Initiative is dedicated to empowering young individuals and amplifying their voices as advocates for positive change in the realm of migration. By providing a platform for youth engagement, promoting secure, organized, and regular migration, and advocating for policies inclusive of youth, this initiative strives to shape a more comprehensive and sustainable future for all.

Migration Youth Ambassadors, during their one-year collaboration with IOM, will champion safe, orderly, dignified, and inclusive migration. They will focus on critical issues like climate-induced mobility, human trafficking, xenophobia, and public health. Additionally, they will play a pivotal role in empowering fellow young people in their communities to actively participate in dialogues concerning migration and related subjects.

  • Do you possess a genuine passion for migration matters and a track record of contributing to youth empowerment in your community?
  • Are you motivated to engage in national, regional, and global discussions on migration issues?
  • Are you interested in collaborating with an international organization that offers access to a global network?

Objectives of the Youth Ambassador Initiative

  1. Amplify youth voices: This initiative aims to provide a platform for young individuals to voice their perspectives, generate content, share experiences, and contribute ideas regarding migration-related subjects. By doing so, it aspires to foster a more inclusive and representative approach to migration governance.
  2. Advocate for youth-inclusive and youth-sensitive policies: Youth Ambassadors will advocate for policies that prioritize the well-being of young people in host, transit, and destination communities, as well as young migrants within diaspora communities. They will facilitate meaningful youth participation in discussions and decision-making processes related to migration.
  3. Promote safe, orderly, regular, and dignified migration: Youth Ambassadors will engage in advocacy endeavors aimed at improving access to information and resources related to migration and legal pathways.
  4. Empower young people: Through capacity building, mentorship, and knowledge sharing, Youth Ambassadors will be equipped to become effective advocates and change-makers in their communities. They will develop leadership skills, enhance their understanding of migration issues, and gain the confidence to address these issues effectively in collaboration with partners, including governments and local authorities.
