Applications are currently being accepted for the 2024 UNESCO/Poland Co-Sponsored Engineering Fellowship Programme. With the aim of fostering human resource capacities in developing countries and promoting international understanding and friendship among nations and peoples, the Polish National Commission for UNESCO and the UNESCO Chair for Science, Technology, and Engineering at AGH University in Krakow, Poland, are offering thirty (30) fellowships to benefit several developing Member States. Recipients of these fellowships will have the opportunity to pursue an individual research program in the field of Science, Technology, and Engineering for a duration of 6 months between October 1, 2024, and March 31, 2025.

Duration and Location of Fellowship Study:

  • The fellowship is a six-month program hosted at the AGH University of Krakow, specifically at the UNESCO AGH Chair located at A. Mickiewicza Ave. 30, PL 30-059 Krakow, Poland.

Benefits:

Facilities Provided by the Polish Authorities:

  • Free tuition and access to university facilities in accordance with local regulations.
  • A monthly allowance of 1800 PLN is provided for BSc degree students, while MSc degree students receive 2200 PLN. (Approximately 1 USD equals 4 PLN.). All living expenses and accommodation in Poland are the responsibility of the fellow, to be covered by this allowance.
  • Upon arrival in Poland, BSc degree students receive a one-time special allowance of 1800 PLN, while MSc degree students receive 2200 PLN, for a 6-month stay period. This amount will cover various activities related to the stay in Krakow, such as mandatory medical check-ups upon arrival (in compliance with internal regulations for all students), cultural, historical, and/or touristic visits, conferences, workshops, and seminars related to the studies.

UNESCO Facilities Offered:

  • International travel expenses (via the most direct and economical route) from the recipient’s country to and from Poland will be funded by UNESCO.
  • Health insurance coverage for fellowship recipients deemed medically fit: UNESCO fellowship awardees may receive coverage under a health insurance policy arranged by the Organization for the duration of the fellowship. UNESCO will procure health insurance on behalf of the selected fellows and cover the associated expenses.
  • A single special pocket allowance of $120 (one hundred and twenty US dollars).
